As per Perry Street Bylaws 4/29/2018, Perry Street uses Robert’s Rules as a basis for conducting business meetings except when rules conflict with AA principles and the group conscience of the meeting.

Motions emailed in advance to secretary@perrystreetbusiness.org will take precedence during New Business. The member who emailed the motion must be present at the meeting or the motion will not be discussed.

The chat window will be used to second a motion, provide a point of order and point of information, call the question, propose amendments, and other relevant discussion. The Parliamentarian and Secretary will keep track of the chat window and bring pertinent items to the attention of the chair.

Sharing on a motion will proceed at the discretion of the chair, with a general practice of timed shares and limited sharing to, e.g., up to 3 shares in favor and 3 shares opposed.

Voting: As per Perry Street Bylaws, The Steering Committee is the group’s voting membership, consisting of officers, chairpersons, and anyone who has ever held a service commitment. Chairpersons are expected and encouraged to attend business meetings. Nonvoting members are welcome to raise issues and take part in discussions. Current chairs of zoom meetings in all time slots will be voted onto the steering committee at the start of the business meeting.
